Rabit star catalog by Randy Lictus (1683 - 1718).
Sir Lictus was a genius. At his time, the instruments didn't allow to see very many stars. Despite that, he created a catalogue system which was recursively extendible. When astronomers developed better instruments and discovered incredibly many new stars, they could add the new objects to the existing catalogue.
